Abstract Industrial technology innovation strategic alliance is a new kind of organization which contains the obstructions of knowledge transfer. The obstructions of knowledge transferdoharmtothehealthy developmentofalliance,destroythecooperationbetween themembersofalliance,damagetheinnovationabilityofalliance.Theobstructionshave respect to the long-term stabilization and the development of alliance. Right way is needed to find outthe factorsthat doharm to knowledge transfer to protect the healthy operation of alliance. This paper is trying to find out the causes of the knowledge transfer’s obstructions, divide the obstructions of knowledge transfer into different categories by all kinds of members. There will be more obstructions of knowledge transfer if enterprise donotprovide enough capitalto scientificresearch institutions and do not guide the demand of research and development clearly. Also, if the scientific research institutionscan’tprovide rich innovation achievements,knowledgetransferwill be affected.Theknowledgetransfer ofindustrialtechnologyinnovationstrategicalliance canbe seenasalargeandneat system.Wecanfindthatchains’combination,knowledge gap, benefit and the situation of supply and demand are the contingency factors of knowledge transfer by dividing the chains. Coal Industrial Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance is the most representative organization in the industry. Since this alliance’svigorous developmentandachievement,we choosethisgroupascaseto study the obstructions of knowledge transfer can make it easier to find out the source. To eliminate the obstructions of knowledge transfer, we should enhance the members’ efficiency of knowledge transfer. We should improve the member’s willingness and ability of knowledge transfer.
