Say… To drive a culture of operational discipline, values, systems, processes and behaviors need to be aligned across four key areas. Facilitator note: Review and discuss the four bullets on slide. (If one is familiar with DCOM, this is an application of this behavioral model.) * Additional notes: * Use this slide to discuss each individual person’s role in our effort to eliminate incidents. The Major Incident Study has identified “not following safe work practices” as a primary root cause of incidents. How can we hold ourselves more accountable? How can we ensure that our co-workers are working safely? Think about what the consequences might be if we don’t follow those safe work practices before starting every task. We need to be skilled and extremely disciplined about identifying the potential risks and dangers in everything we do – from avoiding slips, trips and falls – to adhering to critical complex operating procedures. * The leader’s role in operational discipline is to make Chevron’s expectations perfectly clear – and to ensure that they are always met. Articulate what leaders in your organization must do to set these clear expectations, and to ensure that they are always met.
