METHODS: Two or Three Sentence RESULTS: Less Than Ten Sentence CONCLUSION (original contribution, implications): One Sentence or more sentences. Functions of Introduction 1) Introducing the Subject 2) Limiting the Research Scope 3) Stating the General Purpose 4) Showing the Writing Arrangement Objective The purpose of a Method section is to explain exactly what you did and how you did it. Someone should be able to read your Method section and perform the same experiment you did (and, you hope, get the same results). In other words, someone should be able to replicate your experiment based on the information you provide in the Method section. The Method section also allows your readers to judge whether your sample, materials, and procedure were appropriate to test your hypotheses. OLeary, Z.
