Females can weigh as little as 75 kg, but can also weigh up to 125 kg. Average adult weight is 100 to 115 kg. The giant panda has black and white fur. The giant pandas coat protects it from danger in the snowy and rocky habitat. The coat keeps it warm in the cool forests of its habitat. In 2006, scientists reported that the number of pandas living in the wild may have been less than 3,000. The government has taken actions to protect them.
