The offsets or bend in the cutting plane are all 90° and are never shown in the sectional view 7.12 RIBS IN SECTIONS To avoid a false impression of thickness and solidity ribs, webs ,gear teeth ,and similar flat features are not sectioned even though the cutting plane passes along the center plane of the feature. A B B A For example , in Fig.7.12a, the cutting plane A-A passes flat wise through the vertical web , or ribs , and the web is not section lined (Fig.7.12b). (a) CORRECT (b) INCORRECT If the cutting plane passes crosswise through a rib or any thin member , as dose the plane B-B , the member should be section lined in the usual manner, as shown in the top view (Fig.7.12c). (c) 7.13 ALIGEND SECTION To include in a section certain angled elements, the cutting plane may be to pass through those features . In figure 7.13 the cutting plane is bent to include one of the drilled and counter bored holes in the sectional view . Another example involving rib sectioning and aligned sectioning is show in figure. Note that the ribs are not sectioned. 7.14 PARTIAL VIEWS If space is limited on the paper or if It is necessary to save drafting time ,partial views may be used in connection with sectioning Half views are shown in Fig. a and Fig.b. in connection with a full section and a half section , respectively . (a) (b) Another method of drawing a partial view is to break out much of the circular view, retaining only those features that are needed for minimum representation. 7.15 INTERSECTIONS IN SECTIONING Where an intersection is small or unimportant in a section , it is standard practice to disregard the true projection of the figure of intersection ,as shown in Figs.7.15a and 7.15b (a) (b) Larger figures of intersection may be projected, as shown in Fig.7.15c, or approximated by circular arcs , as shown for the smaller hole in Fig.7.15d (c) (d) 7.16 CONVENTIONAL BREAKS To shorten a view of an elongated object , conventional breaks are recommended , as
