Piaget’s Development Psychology Jean Piaget(1896-1980) is a Swiss psychologist and the most prolific of all cognitive psychologists. He is well known for his theory of development psychology. Cognitive development is defined as thinking, problem solving, concept understanding, information processing and overall intelligence. In short Piaget believed that cognitive development was the direct result of maturation (ageing) and environment. He emphasizes very strongly the concept of learning as active information processing, resulting in exploration and discovery. How we gain knowledge: Piaget
