What happens when the three components are not equal ? What we know is that the greater R, G and B are, the brighter the result is. The quantity of light generated by the pixel results from the sum of Red, Green and Blue that are stated by the computer. Lets turn it the other way round: all the points that match a criteria like R + G + B = Brightness have all the same brightness. In other terms, we are looking for points that match x + y + z= V. Thats a plan! We can plot the portion of the RGB Cube which is located in that plan. Of course, the point of that plan that is located on the neutral axis is grey. If we move the plan along the neutral axis, from the black point (0,0,0) to the white end (255,255,255), only the brightness of the pixels will change: reds are red, greens are green, and blues are blue. In the HSV color space, that position along the neutral axis is called Value. * * CIE means International Commission on Illumination (referred as CIE because of French, Commission Internationale de I’Eclairage.) In 1931, CIE propose XYZ color space Because XYZ is designed based on human perception studies, XYZ could represent all perceptible colors , while RGB could not, this makes it most used in color science. * 横坐标是x, 纵坐标是y, z = 1-x-y。 CIE XYZ 所表示的Color颜色见右图。左图表示对应的Color的wavelet This diagram shows how to use XYZ to represent colors. Z is equal to 1 – x – y. Given a x,y,z , the left image shows the corresponding wavelength, the right image shows the corresponding color. * In computer graphics, images are represented by a 2-dimensional discrete function, Each discrete point/grid is called pixel. Usually, each pixel has a RGB/RGBA value for color images or a scalar value for gray images. * As we know, graphics is used to generate a 2D image if a 3D scene and a camera position are given . However, what data structure can be used for 3D scene? Although simple primitives, such as spheres, cubes could be represented by some analytic parameters, Co
