Theoretical basis
New English Curriculum Standards points out that leaning is a dynamic process of construction. With the help of the teachers and peers, learning is a meaningful constructive process. Since real situations are the prerequisite of the construction of knowledge, Communicative Approach is the necessary way to make the students use what they learn in real communication. Thus, Task-based Language Teaching will be adopted. The teacher should create various kinds of activities and tasks to interest the students.
Teaching material and learning condition
1. Analysis of teaching material
This lesson is Part A of Unit 3 what are you going to do from PEP7. It talks about the activities in the future. From this lesson, the students can know how to express the things in their room or even in the classroom. And the topic is closely related to daily life, so the students would like to talk about it. And this lesson is mainly about the six new words as well as the sentence pattern “There is/are … in the room.” And this is the first period of this unit, so it is very important to learn this lesson well to make a good consolidation for the following lessons.
2. Analysis of learning condition
The students in Grade 5 are both mentally and physically active. They are eager to show and express themselves and gain the praise from the teacher. In addition, they like playing games. And they have learned English for more than 2 years, so it will not be difficult to understand teacher’s instructions and do the action. But they still need the help from the teachers and the support from the peers.
Teaching objectives
1. Language knowledge and skills
1)The Ss are able to listen, speak ,read and write the words: mirror, trash bin, closet, curtain and end table, and they are able to listen, speak and read the word “air-conditioner”
