Research and Development on Knowledge Management System for Process Abstract: With the development of manufacturing informationization, the role of knowledge management (KM) in manufacturing enterprises is being more important. Process knowledge (PK) exists through the full life cycle of products, such as product planning, design, manufacture, assemble and service and it decides the living and developing of enterprises.. For a long time, the researchers of process knowledge management (PKM) are committed to make process knowledge to be structured and regularization. They only care to save the explicit knowledge such as the result of process design (Know-What), ignoring the inexplicit knowledge such as the season how to design (Know-How).But the inexplicit knowledge is very important for manufacturing enterprises. At the same time, the research on PKM in enterprises is limited in knowledge base of CAPP. So the result of knowledge representation is unsatisfactory, because the PK is out of process. Because PK is complex and it is hard to be explicit, the process-based modeling method for knowledge of process is proposed. From macro viewpoint, the relationship of knowledge of process is analyzed and the knowledge hierarchical structure is presented base on tree-view of process. From a micro viewpoint, natural language and free text is used to represent knowledge. Fourfold group is core of knowledge unit, which make representation and index of knowledge easy. Natural language and free text bring the question of knowledge search. The traditional way such as keyword is hard to get the feature information of PK, so the search accuracy is low. The paper proposes the content-based search method from the multimedia search technology. The paper gets the index of PK through part classified information, part feature information and processing characteristics in order to improve the search accuracy.
