Cleaning 2K Manifolds Procedure for Cleaning Manifolds Module Cleaning Procedure The procedure covers cleaning of the modules for both the ShinEtsu and Momentive equipment. The module is the part of the system that the mixing tube attaches to. The base and catalyst material flow into the module before they mix exit and mix in the mixing tube. It will be necessary to disassemble and clean the ports on the module periodically. This procedure is not meant to replace the procedure in the manual for these units. Please refer to the system manual for all safety and operational procedures. Materials You Will Need Safety Equipment Clean Rags Cleaning Fluid (Isopropyl Alcohol) Same as purge material. Allen Wrenches Q-Tips Small Non-Abrasive Brush Step 1 First remove the old mixing tube from manifold and discard. This should leave the manifold tip exposed for inspection. Look to see if there is evidence of cross contamination between the base and catalyst. The base is white and has two holes. The catalyst is black on the Momentive system and clear on the ShinEtsu system. Step 2 Using a standard Allen wrench, remove the four 10-24 screws that holds the manifold cap on. Note: The screws on the mounting side are shorter than the ones on the non-mounting side Important Note!!! The ShinEtsu catalyst material is very thin so a plastic nozzle restricting tip is used to increase the pressure of the material as it exits the manifold. During the cleaning process this must be removed, cleaned, and replaced. Do not loose this nozzle as it will affect the proper operation of the system Step 3 Inspect inside of manifold cap for contamination and clean as necessary using cleaning material. Note: Be careful not to damage or loose the orings during cleaning. Remove and clean separately during the cleaning process. Step 3a Take care not to damage any surfaces of the part. Make sure part is 100% clean and o-rings are back in place before reassembly. Place part aside after cleaning and
