I have been studying polar bear Ursus maritimus denning ecology on the North Slope of Alaska for the past 15 years. Other work focuses on bear-human conflict in Alaska black, brown and polar and Utah black bear . A new project in India is focused on sloth bear-human conflict and seeks to find ways to minimize interactions between the two species. Bobcat research in northwestern Utah investigates bobcat-habitat relationships, individual movements, home ranges, and population dynamicsI currently teach non-majors biology, wildlife management techniques, a safety course as well as graduate courses in carnivore ecology, animal behavior, and research problems.
