They held a meeting. Later, Arthur wrote this report about their meeting for the head teacher. Reading: A new newspaper 1. We held a meeting after school. Pansy, Tony, Joyce, Millie and I were at the meeting. 2. First, we decided to elect the chief editor. Tony suggested Joyce. He said, “We should choose Joyce because she has experience. She was the editor of her class newspaper last year. ” Then we all voted for her. We elected Joyce to be the chief editor. Reading: A new newspaper 3. Then Joyce took charge of the meeting. She said, “we ought to elect a secretary next. ” She asked for suggestions. 4. Millie said,Arthur should be the secretary, because he has experience too. He was the secretary of the Chess Club last year. Then the others voted for me, and I was elected to be the secretary. I started taking notes.  5. Joyce said , Pansy,Tony,Joyce, Millie, you will be editors of the paper. They would be responsible for different sections of the paper. Pansy asked, “which sections will we have? ” Joyce said to them, “talk it over among yourseves, we will decide at the next meeting. ” 6. Then we made a list of some other things to discuss. For example, how often should we publish the paper? Should it be free to readers, or should they pay for it? What should we call it? 7. We considered the last question briefly. Pansy said, “we ought to call it the Mayfield Sun. ” “What about the Mayfield Mirror or the Mayfield Star? ” Millie said. 8. Because we all had different ideas, Joyce said, “we should think about this a bit longer. We will make a decision about the name at the next meeting. We agreed to conclude the meeting then.
