Xiang-min Fang Fu-sheng Chen 2015.10.26 Does the mixture with broadleaved tree increase rhizosphere soil and tree tissue phosphorus level of Chinese fir in two sites of subtropical China? International Symposium on Forest Soils (ISFS 2015) Ⅰ. Background Ⅱ. Hypotheses Ⅲ. Main results Ⅳ. Conclusions Outline In many terrestrial ecosystems, P is the limiting element for plant growth, especially in subtropical area, where P often is inactive due to high content of Fe and Al. The supply of P to plants is generally constrained by both low total quantity of this element in the soils and by the very low solubility of the scarce quantity. Assessing available P is fundamental to managing P in many of these soils for net primary production. P availability has been inferred from the Hedley sequential extraction assuming that each P fraction reflects plant availability. Phosphorus (P) and P fraction Rhizosphere link the above- and below-ground processes that determine tree nutrient status and stand productivity. The in?uence of mixed tree plantations on the nutrition In forest ecosyetem, increases in the supply of resources such as soil nutrients may occur in di?erent ways: (i) a greater proportion of the total pool of soil nutrients may become more available to plants through enhanced mineralization; (ii)nutrients may be added to the system via mineral weathering or atmospheric deposition; (iii)nutrient cycling and release from above-ground pools may be accelerated via higher rates of litter production and decomposition Higher rates of soil nutrient mineralization in mixtures compared to monocultures (the quality of organic matter inputs; root exudates; modi?cation of chemical and physical stabilization of soil organic matter) Litter production and decomposition is higher in mixtures compared to monocultures Chinese ?r is one of the most important plantation tree species in China. Plantation productivity decline and soil degradation have negatively impacted mon
