It is hoped that through this course, you can get more familiar with the language patternings in English texts or discourses and thus develop sort of expertise in reading more efficiently--- so that you can read from analytical, critical and aesthetic perspectives, thereby to deepen your understanding of English writings and as well build up both a logical mind and a sound judgment for perfection of your own writings on the basis of sufficient exposure and mastery of lexical, grammatical and rhetorical devices. Course Requirements A. Students are supposed to make preparations for the reading or other assignments before class and be ready to respond to them orally in class or group discussions. B.
