杰夫贝索斯 亚马逊CO-普林斯顿-2010毕业典礼(注解版)

Brief Introduction 1 of Good Speech优秀演讲简介1 We are What We Choose ---Remarks by Jeff Bezos, as delivered to the Class of 2010 Jeff Bezos As a kid, I spent my summers with my grandparents on their ranch(牧场) in Texas(美国德克萨斯). I helped fix windmills(风车), vaccinate cattle(给牛群打疫苗), and do other chores(琐事). We also watched soap operas(肥皂剧) every afternoon, especially Days of our Lives. My grandparents belonged to a Caravan Club(房车俱乐部), a group of Airstream trailer(拖车;房车) owners who travel together around the U.S. and Canada. And every few summers, we’d join the caravan. At any rate, I decided to do the math for my grandmother. I estimated the number of cigarettes per days, estimated the number of puffs per cigarette and so on. When I was satisfied that I’d come up with(提出) a reasonable number, I poked(伸出) my head into the front of the car, tapped my grandmother on the shoulder, and proudly proclaimed(宣布), At two minutes per puff, you’ve taken nine years off your life! I have a vivid memory of what happened, and it was not what I expected. I expected to be applauded(表扬) for my cleverness and
