ここに幸ありアグリコラ ―『田園の詩神』の憂鬱とドライデンの『農耕詩』― 日本英文学会第79回全国大会 開催日：200７年5月16日（土） 開催場所：慶応義塾大学三田キャンパス シンポジウム：「農耕詩の諸変奏」 講師：圓月　勝博 １ 心ないドライデン論を許さないぞ！ 英国において『農耕詩』を模範とした長編詩が次々と書かれることになった契機は、ドライデン［一六三一－一七〇〇］が一六九七年に『牧歌』や『アイネーイス』とともに発表した『農耕詩』の英訳と、この英訳の序文として収められたジョウゼフ?アディソン（一六七二－一七一九）の「農耕詩論」によるところが大きい。まずドライデンの翻訳について触れておきたい。…『農耕詩』の献辞においては、パトロンのチェスターフィールド伯爵に対する大げさな賛美ばかりが目につき、「最高の詩人の最高の作品」という空疎な評があるだけで、農耕詩の本質について語っている箇所はほとんどない（10）。 (10) John Dryden, Of Dramatic Poesy and Other Critical Essays, ed.
