附录一：英文原文 Crossing Continents and Centuries The idea of crossing the Bosporus by rail has been an engineering dream since the late 1800s, when Germany and the Ottoman Empire proposed a Berlin-to-Baghdad train line. The plan involved providing rail service between the European and Asian sides of the city then known as Constantinople. Although the original project was never fully developed, the idea itself survived even as the Ottoman world crumbled in the aftermath of World War I as a portion of the empire became the Republic of Turkey and Constantinople was renamed Istanbul .By 2013 the enginee
