Stories of their struggles for power reflect the road to success for “able” women. The differences in character temperament and the different measures they took brought them different destinies, as did their images, which gave different rays of light. This article tries to analyze the image and character of each of the two and does its best to find out what caused her course of life as well as her tragically fate. This article also analysis the two women’s spiritual pursuit and individuality, let alone their looks, their views on money and their management abilities. They both lived in a precarious society. Wang Xifeng lived in the later period of feudal society when capitalism was beginning to show its bud. At that time, “drawing water to one’s mill” was an important way to make money. To a woman living in a feudal family it was no easy job to struggle for a better tomorrow. Scarlett’s was a time at War Between the States when it was a symbol of identity to be active in the upper society, where money was its only support. Scarlett lived in a society which was built on money where material pursuit aroused her desires. Both Wang Xifeng and Scarlett were the respective result of their character compromising with the surroundings where they lived. However, we do see their personality charm and g
