The phrase immediately became a meme on the Internet, inspiring jokes that marry Mr. Romneys words with all sorts of funny pictures. Joking aside, Democrats seized on the phrase and Mr. Romneys answers during the debate as evidence that his policies would be worse for women than the presidents.
