Open Solicitation for Architectural Design Scheme of the China Pavilion of World Expo 2010 Shanghai As a permanent building, the China Pavilion is an icon of the World Expo 2010 Shanghai, which is jointly organized by China and the International Exhibitions Bureau. To demonstrate the glamour of Chinese culture, and encapsulate wisdom of Chinese people all over the world, we launch this open solicitation for architectural design scheme of the China Pavilion of World Expo 2010 Shanghai. Organizer Shanghai World Expo (Group) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter called the “Expo Group”) openly solicits architectural design scheme of the China Pavilion of World Expo 2010 Shanghai from all over the world. Shanghai World Expo (Group) Engineering Project Management Company and Shanghai International Tendering Co., Ltd. are responsible for execution of the solicitation. Qualifications for Applicants Any Chinese architectural design firms and individuals who are aspired to contribute their wisdom to World Expo 2010 Shanghai are welcome to submit their schemes, with no limit for numbers of schemes per application. Individuals and institutes who are involved in organizing and appraising of the solicitation are not eligible for application. Requirements for Schemes Applying schemes shall demonstrate the theme of “Chinese Wisdom in Urban Development” of the China pavilion, showcase the Chinese wisdom centered on “Harmony”, how to lead Chinese people to build a better habitat in the past, today and future, and create a better urban living. 3.2 From the perspective of architectural design, applying schemes shall demonstrate cultural connotation of the Chinese tradition, contain unique Chinese elements, and demonstrate the Chinese harmonious world outlook of “Heaven and Man Join as One”. 3.3 Applying schemes shall comply with the planning and design controls for the China Pavilion.
