Traditional Chinese painting is a unique school of art, which in styles and techniques is widely different from other painting schools in the world. Traditional Japanese painting is the only exception, for that they have been heavily influenced by the Chinese culture. The Chinese do painting with brushes, dipping their brushes in ink or paint, and then skillfully wielding them on the paper or silks. Painter produce pictures with lines and dots—some heavy, some light, some deep, and some pale. For a good painter, brushes and ink are not only tools for painting, but also the symbol of his or her artistic pursuit. (104 words)
