BiodiversityBiological diversity is always abbreviated as “biodiversity”. The life system could be divided into different hierarchies of entitles ,i.e. ,genes , cells , individuals, species , communities and ecosystems, there are more than one type of life, thus, from molecules to ecosystems, the existence of life diversity is apparent. Otto T. Solbrig defines the biodiversity as the characteristics of groups or classes of living entitles with diversity. Diversity is the fundamental characteristics of all life systems. Biodiversity can be divided into many levels, ranging from the integrated ecosystem to the chemical construction forming the molecules of genetic materials. But it is always understood on such levels as ecosystem or biocommunity , population or species and cell or molecule. That is , it can be classified into three basic levels – ecosystem diversity, species diversity and gene diversity or genetic diversity, each basic level could also be divided into such sub-levels as the type diversity of ecosystem, the structure diversity of ecosystems and the function diversity of ecosystem. 　Biological diversity (or biodiversity , for short) is the variety of life on Earth and the interactions, cycles, and processes of nature that link it all together. In its broadest definition, biodiversity includes individual species, the genetic diversity within species, the natural communities in which these species interact, and the ecosystems and landscapes in which species evolve and coexist.… Although conservation efforts to protect biodiversity tend to focus on unique plants or rare animals, biodiversity actually encompasses all nature, including both common and rare components and even more obscure organisms such as fungi and microbes.
