The pilot was nervous and frightened because he was certain he would be put to death the next day .when he borrowed a match from his jailer (看守). Their eyesight touched unexpectedly . The pilot smiled at hin . the jailer returned the smile. The two men began to discuss their families and even shared pictures.Later the jailer decided to free the polot and led him to safety .i remember being absolutely amazed by the pilot”s words:”my life was saved by a smile.” The magic moment when the two souls recognized each other filled me whit hope and possibility . the next morning on my way to work I stopped in a food shop and bought a cup of tea. When the server handed me the cup I amiled and said thank you . he stepped back and for a moment looked confused. Then he smilesd and said . I have been doing this all the moring ,but you are the first to smile at me . I could not believe how good I felt As I continued to smile throught the days .weeks and months I noticed an amazing cycle:The more I smiled ,the friendlier everything seemed ;and the friendlier everything seemed , the more I smile . It also seemed to me that the smiles I received in return were not just polite smiles . I flet a connection with the person for a moment ,as though we had come to an agreement
