Ted Hughes  (17August1930 – 28October1998) Life Experience ● Hughes was born on 17 August 1930 in?Mytholmroyd, west Yorkshire. ● When Hughes was seven his family moved to?Mexboroug,?South Yorkshire, where they ran a newsagents and tobacco shop. He attended Mexborough Grammar School, where his teachers encouraged him to write. When he was fifteen, he began to write poems. ● Hughes was stationed as a ground wireless mechanic in the?RAF?（英国皇家空军）on an isolated three-man station in east Yorkshire — a time of which he mentions that he had nothing to do but read and reread Shakespeare and watch the grass grow. ● After he was released from military service, He studied English literature, anthropology and archaeology at Pembroke College. ● In 1954, Hughes published his first poem , at this year, he educated from Cambridge University. Then he moved to London. Sylvia Plath (1932 – 1963) was an American poet, novelist and short story writer. She was born in Massachusetts, she studied at Smith College and Newnham College Cambridge before receiving acclaim as a professional poet and writer. She married fellow poet Ted Hughes in 1956 and they lived together first in the United States and then England, having two children together. Following a long struggle with depression and a marital separation, Plath committed suicide in 1963.Controversy continues to surround the events of her life and death, as well as her writing and legacy After the birth of his two children, Hughes moved to Devon in 1961, then he has relationship with Assis Wevill In 1962, his marriage with Plath is broken.
