B.教学过程
Step 1. Check the preview exercises
Step 2. A guessing game
Bring a photo of mine to the class and say to the students: This is a photo of me Look at it and guess which country it is. Write the word country on the blackboard.
Step 3. Presentation
Group work: The students work in groups of four to collect as many names of countries as they can. List the words on the blackboard.
Read all the names of countries.
Step4. Presentation
Show the students some pictures of places of interest in the world. Teach the students the names of these places.
Read these words: Japan, France, The USA, The UK, Thailand, Russian
Step 5. Practice
Ask the students to finish P7, A. Read these words in pairs.
Step 6. Presentation
Show the students a photo of Tiananmen Square and ask them where it is. Then write down this sentence on the blackboard: Beijing is the capital of China. Teach this word.
Step 7. Practice
Matching: ask the students to finish a matching game:
France Washington DC Japan Moscow The UK Paris The USA Bangkok Russia Tokyo Thailand London Ask and answer : What city is the capital of China? Beijing is the capital of China.
Ask the students to finish P7, B. Then ask the students to read the sentences loudly.
For more able students, give them more countries and capitals. Australia—Canberra; Philippines—Manila; Italy—Rome
Step 8. Presentation
Ask the students something about Eddie and Hobo. Tell them that they are living in Beijing now. Today they are talking about where to live. Look at two pictures first.
Show the students two pictures. One is a picture of a palace and the other is a picture of a restaurant. Teach the word palace.
Ask the students where they want to live. Then ask them to guess where Eddie wants to live and why.
