Unit 8 Identity Theft Gist of the article “Identity Thieves” is a report describing a new crime that emerged in the United States in the 1990s ---- identity theft. Specifically in this article, the writer introduces the cases, or what has happened to the victims ---- they have “spent” large amount of money in their credit without their knowing! They are : an inspector at a foundry, Robert Hartle, a lawyer, Mari Frank and a pension manager in Sun Prairie, Jessica Grant. When they found that impostors had run up large amount of debts in their names, they reported to the police, but unexpectedly were not regarded as victims. Because they were not considered to have the obligation to pay any of the bills the impostors had run up, they were thought to have lost nothing. It was the bank that issued the credit cared that would be regarded as a victim. Struggling for tougher identity theft laws, they took their cases to federal law enforcement ---- the FBI and U.S. Secret Service. It was there that they realized the fed’s predicament. Flock is applied to a congregation of animals of one kind, especially sheep or goats herded by human beings, and to any congregation of wild or domesticated birds, especially when on the ground. It is also applicable to people who form the membership of a church or to people under someones care or supervision.
