Ⅰ、Analysis of the Teaching Material
As an argumentative writing, this text reveals a philosophical lesson: decisions can shape, determine, and change our destiny. However, there are two types of decisions. One is the passive adjustment to life, while the other is the initiative actions to change one’s life, namely, committed decisions. From this teaching material, we can conclude that only when we build our decisions on objective and realistic basis, and got the resolution and courage to carry out our decisions against all odds can we seize our own destiny and achieve our goals.
Ⅱ、Analysis of the Students
High School students in Grade 2 have already mastered a certain number of English vocabulary and reading skills. They are able to express personal opinions clearly and accurately in English. Meanwhile, Grade 2 students have the ability to study both independently and cooperatively. They have their own values and criteria for judgment, and will choose the relevant reading strategies respectively according to their own needs.

To be clear about the structure of the text by dividing the text into three parts
