It’s my honor to be here to interpret my lesson. The lesson Im going to talk about is Unit 1 Tony always likes birthday parties from Module 8 of Junior 1A (by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press). Ⅰ. About the students There are 50 students aged from twelve to thirteen in the class. As far as I know, most of them are at the beginning level but they like games and will be more active if proper games are used. Since there are so many students here, pair work and group activities should be used in the teaching procedure. In this way, students can get more opportunities to practice the skills in English learning. Ⅱ. About the content This module is about an interesting topic—birthday. The task of this module is to choose a birthday present; the key grammar is about adverbs of frequency. And the language skills and the language knowledge are shown around the topic. The teaching material provides a good way to describe what people do on their birthdays, and makes students know more about western cultures. And I will combine the listening materials with speaking and writing. Ⅲ. Teaching aims of this lesson: Aims of knowledge: Students will learn some adverbs of frequency and continue to use present tense by learning the dialogue and by different games and activities. Aims of listening abilities: Two listening skills should be cultivated in the two materials: First, listen for gist —— get the main idea of the text; Second, listen for details —— try to tell more about the dialogue. Of course, we should also develop junior students’ ability of reading English aloud correctly.
