Road Closures The Festival has the following road closures in place over the Festival weekend: Sunday 9 September Midnight Saturday – Victoria Embankment and access roads will be closed to traffic Midnight Sunday ALL DAY for the Paralympic Marathon and the Festival’s Night Carnival procession. This will include White Lion Hill and the Blackfriars Underpass. 6pm – 11pm Blackfriars Bridge, Blackfriars Road north of Stamford Street junction 2pm – 4pm Upper Ground access roads – restricted access 4pm – 9pm Upper Ground access roads – road closure Site Layout – General Info Thames Festival is spread over a 3.5km site between Westminster Bridge and Tower Bridge to the south side of the river, and in St Katharine Docks on the north Most activities take place by the River Walkway on the south bank of the Thames; there is flat access along the whole of this walkway Clink Street (between Vinopolis and Southwark Cathedral) is cobbled Should you require assistance, please ask a Festival steward Site Congestion Please note the River Walkway can become very congested – do take this into consideration when planning your route to and between the festival’s attractions. It is usually quicker to exit the Festival site onto the main roads parallel to the River Walkway and proceed along the pavements before re-accessing the Festival site. River Walkway Congestion by Blackfriars Bridge The River Walkway is likely to be congested between Blackfriars Bridge and the Founder’s Arms, just west of the Tate Modern, due to the development of Blackfriars Station. It is also congested to the west of Blackfriars Bridge due to the development of Sea Containers House. Diversion signage will be put up and stewards deployed to provi
