RETA Trainers Guide Resources for Basic Computer Skills Microsoft Teaching and Learning CD Basic Skills Resources CD Designed by: Lee Ann Foster lfoster@ Introduction Each RETA Participant will receive the Microsoft Teaching and Learning CD. This guide will help them understand what great resources and helpful tutorials are on this CD. Participant Outcomes Participants will use basic computer skills to look over Disk 2 of this CD package and make themselves aware of the tutorials and resources it offers. They will also receive instructions about how to access the resources on Disk 1, and a breakdown by software of what it offers. Technology Usage Basic Computer Skills Resources for Word, PowerPoint and Excel Resources Teaching and Learning with Microsoft CD Process Materials: 2 page Teaching and Learning CD Worksheet for each participant Preparation: Make copies of 2worksheet for each participant. Make sure participants have a CD Agenda: 1 hour Mini Workshop Tasks: (activities) Distribute worksheet and CD. Explain activity as being an introductory tutorial to computers and introduction to software. Guide participants through how to turn on and log on (if necessary) to computers. Get Disc 2 and insert into CD-rom. Use worksheet to guide participants step-by-step through the process. Encourage participants to use the software and explore the following: Using the Back Button Using the Desktop Getting Connected Multimedia and Other Tools Learn More About It Instructions for Disk Two Insert CD (Compact Disk) into CD-ROM of CPU. This is located toward the top. Installation will begin. Wait patiently. A title bar will be seen at the top of the screen entitled “Software License Agreement,” read through and using your mouse left click on “Yes. The next title bar should read “Teaching Learning with Microsoft – Microsoft Internet Explorer.” Navigate your mouse to the scroll bar located either at the right of the page or at the bottom
