The range of values of z for which the z-transform exists is called the region of convergence (ROC). 2. Relation of ROC of X(z) and the time-domain characteristic of a discrete-time sequence x[n]. For a finite-length sequence x[n], the ROC of its z-transform is the entire z-plane except possibly at z = 0 and/or at z = ∞. d. For a causal sequence x[n], the ROC of its z-transform is the range exterior to a circle bounded by the outermost pole from the origin, including the point z = ∞. e. For an anticausal sequence x[n], the ROC of its z-transform is the range interior to a circle bounded by the innermost pole from the origin, including the point z = 0. 2.
