Brief summary of project (500 words or less): The West Coast Sea Level Project (WCSLP) develops and supports infrastructure to establish a vertical reference system for accurate and timely land and sea level elevations to determine sea level rise along California’s North Coast, Shelter Cove – Crescent City, CA. Provide essential support to restore and manage estuarine communities including eelgrass beds and salt marshes in regards to rising sea level and climate change in Humboldt Bay. Existing tide gages are supplemented with new permanent and temporary gages deployed and level-line surveyed to a precise vertical datum. Survey geometry is used to remove land-level changes from sea-level changes to accurately estimate sea-level change along the west coast. A West Coast Data Integration System (DIF) will be developed with proposals from other team members (Oregon State Univ., Chris Goldfinger).
