The rescue team hauled medical supplies and food to the flooded villages. 2) pull or drag sth with effort or force e.g. A crane had to be used to haul the car out of the stream. Rescue workers hauled passengers out of the crashed train. n. The act of pulling or transporting; sth that is pulled or transported; the distance over which sth is pulled or transported e.g. a good/ big haul / 一大网鱼;一大笔收获(进帐) a long haul /长途旅行(运输);相当长的时间 Over the long haul, an expensive pair of shoes may save your money. haul, drag, draw, pull haul往往指缓慢尔费力地拖重物,主要用于航海和车辆运输重物; drag表示慢慢的用力拖拉,含义谓阻力很大; E.g. He dragged the piano across the room. draw指拖拽的动作是平稳且较容易的; E.g. He drew a chair to the table. pull常用词,指用力拉。常伴有表示方向的状语。反义词为push; E.g. She pulled him by the ear. improvement: n. the act or an instance of improving or being improved e.g. Much improvement has been made in the public order of the city. There has been an improvement in the weather. /天气有了好转。 Todays weather is an improvement on yesterdays. /今天天气比昨天好了些。 improvement in 指某方面的改善或转好
