Warm-up 1.Free talk. Have students talk about everyday English. T: What day is it today? What’s the date today? What’s the weather like today? What did you do yesterday? 2. A guessing game. Have students look at the pictures and guess with the sentence patterns What is he/she doing? What are they doing? Step2. Presentation 1.Lead in . T: They are talking. What are they talking about? Let’s listen. (Student John: Hello. I’m John. Let me tell you a story about my Tree Planting Day.) 2.Watch a story about John’s Tree Planting Day 3.Learn the new words and sentences. A. digging slowly T: John can dig. He was digging on Tree Planting Day. How was he digging, slowly or quickly? Ss: Slowly. T: Let’s ask John. What were you doing, John? John: I was digging slowly. T: Why were you digging slowly? John: Because it was hot. B. Use the way above to teach these phrases: clapping quickly, laughing loudly ,crying quietly . Step3. Practice Listen and answer.
