(3)Became a full-time farmer at 13. (4)His life became worse after his father`s death. And he became the bread winner in the family. (5) Got married in 1788 (6) 1786: “Poems, Chiefly in the Scottish Dialect”, was successfully sold—great fame (7) As an exciseman (tax collector) in 1789 (8)death: 1796, died miserably, at the age of Works Poems, Chiefly in the Scottish Dialect《苏格兰方言诗集》 (1) political poem; (2) satirical poem; (3) love poem. Summary of His Major Poems : ◆ The majority of his poems were written in the Scottish dialect. ◆ Nearly all his poems were written in his 20s. ◆ The common themes of his poetry are love and friendship, sympathy and patriotism, and the sorrows and joys of the humble Scottish farmers. ◆ He is well-known for his love poems and songs. ◆ A Red, Red Rose: a classical love poem. ◆ Auld Lang Syne :the universal parting-song.
