1.教材分析(analysis of teaching material)
The emphasis of this period will be placed on the important new words, expressions and sentence patterns in the parts Warming up, Pre-reading and Comprehending. Some sentence patterns are difficult to understand.
2.学情分析(analysis of the students)
Ss of high school in Grade one are in a forming stage of English learning and learning habit. They hope to enjoy themselves but not learn by teacher’s dull explanation of words and grammar. What they want the teacher to show on the class is sth that can inspire their curiosity and creativity as well as the context related with their daily lives.
3.教学目标(Teaching aims)
1.知识目标(Knowledge aims)
a. 词汇和短语
Sunburnt, struggle, decade, super, output, crop, hunger, disturbing, expand, Vietman, circulate, satisfied, freedom
b. 重点句子
Thanks to his research, the UN has more tools in the battle to rid the world of hunger.
2. Ability goals 能力目标
Get Ss to use some useful new words and expressions correctly
Master the usage of the -ing form as the subject and object
Learn how to design English posters
3. Emotional goals 情感目标
Help to inspire Ss’ enthusiasm about words and expressions learning

#Teaching important points:
1. Learn to use the important words and expressions in the reading passage
2. Learn to describe different situations in –ing form.
#Teaching difficult points:
1. Encourage Ss to describe themselves and their relatives in the –ing form.
2. Combine the –ing form with the concrete teaching environment.

Step 1 Practice for useful words and expressions
Turn to Page 12. Go through the exercises in Discovering useful words and expressions with Ss and make sure they know what to do.
Step 2 Studying important language points1. Have you ever grown any plants? If so, what did you do to grow them?
