He traveled about 5,000 kilometers across China with only 600 yuan during the National Day holiday. So whats his secret to saving money on travel? Here are some of Jiangs tips： First, thumb a ride whenever possible. Jiang said he used to stand by the entry to a highway. Never go unless you are with at least one other friend, and always let your parents know where you are. Second, dont take expensive high-speed trains. Instead, take the old “green trains”. Its better to take trains that start at sunset and arrive at daybreak. Jiang says：“You not only save paying for somewhere to stay but you also dont need to waste the daytime traveling.” Third, prepare to be outdoors.
