Period 2 Reading and Vocabulary 整体设计 教材分析 通过阅读人类发展报告学习词汇, 了解人类发展指数和发展目标的内容。在此基础上对发达与发展中国家的情况进行对比和分析, 不断的培养学生归纳数据和分析数据的能力。同时锻炼了学生的阅读技巧。 三维目标 1. 知识与技能 1)Train students’ reading ability. 2)Learn some useful words and expressions. 3)Learn some information about the Human Development Report. 2. 过程与方法 1)Fast reading to get the general idea of the text. 2)Intensive reading to understand the passage better. 3. 情感与价值 1)Make students have a better understanding of some developing countries. 2)Inspire their love for their own country and their determination to develop their country. 3)Encourage students to care for the people in poorer areas through their action. 教学重点 1. Help students to understand the passage better. 2. Learn and master some important words and phrases in this period. 3. Make students know more about the present situation of some developing countries. 教学难点 1. How to help students improve their reading ability and understand the passage better. 2. How to master the important language points in this passage. 教学方法 1. Discussion to help students understand what they’ve learned better. 2. Explanation to help students master some language points. 3. Group work to learn some facts about developing countries. 教学过程 → Step 1 Greetings and Revision 1. Greet students as usual. 2. Have a dictation of the words they have learned. → Step 2 Lead-in Option One Students work together to imagine what aspects The Human Development Report will be about. They can say a long sentence or even just say a word. For example: S: Food. S: Clothes. S: They will report whether the people are hungry. S: They will report whether people there are poor or rich. S: Whether people go to school. S: About pollution. Option Two Learn some words in the passage that are new to students. Match the words with the definitions. Read out the words in the box and have students repeat them after the teacher. Then ask students to match the definitions individually; after that, check the answers with the
