Phonics, Reading and Writing By the end of this week we will have completed learning all of the sounds for this year We will begin to revise all of these sounds after half term We will now be focusing on combining all of the sounds together in order for the children to continue to write words and build on writing independent sentences ? Helping your child with reading Blending- This is how we teach the children to read phonetically decodable words. c a t b a ng ch ai n z ie t ? Helping your child with writing Segmenting- This is how we teach the children to write phonetically decodable words. The kite flew high The kiet floo hie ? The children will be set various activities to help develop their reading and writing using their sounds. Please keep their green sound folders at home and continue to practise Just a reminder Reading books need to be in book bags every day Tricky words will usually be tested on a Wednesday Sound homework will be set on a Friday and will be collected the following Thursday General homework will still be set on a Friday and also collected on the following Thursday On Thursday mornings please can you remind your child that they will need to hand this homework in. We are trying to encourage the children to become more independent Please try to carry out various handwriting, reading, maths and phonics activities little and often throughout the week. LITERACY ? Early Learning Goals- Reading Children read and understand simple sentences. They use phonic knowledge to decode regular words and read them aloud accurately. They also read some common irregular words. (TRICKY WORDS) They demonstrate understanding when talking with others about what they have read. ?
