From the Helm Commander Jack Micklovich, AP Greetings Merrimac River Squadron members. Well, the snow may still be covering the ground and our boats still tucked away in winter hibernation, but that shouldn’t stop us from ‘thinking’ about boating, right? I’ve been doing a spring commissioning checklist in my head for over a month already. Thinking of what has to be done, what sequence it must be completed and best of all, how many more ‘hands’ can I engage to help with these projects. Fortunately, we’ve had a fairly mild and snow free winter so far, and I hope it stays that way. Being on the Merrimac River, lots of snow here and up north means fast currents, making things a bit more complicated for the marina to get docks and boats in the water. At the Founders Day meeting and dinner in February, the Squadron swore in a new slate of Bridge Officers. I would like to thank Susan and Brian Schanning representing District 18, for attending our meeting and having Brian swear in the new commander. Charlie Morris has served as Commander for over two years and deserves a sincere Thank You from everyone, for a great job. My first official act at the dinner meeting was to swear in the new Bridge Officers.
