TPT/WG7/PLEN/ 14/ 1 Rev.1 FINALREPORTFROM THE CHAIR OF THE SEVENTH MEETING OF APEC TRANSPORTATION WORKING GROUP BEIJING, CHINA, 2528 APRIL 1995 I. INTRODUCTION 1. The Peoples Republic of China hosted the Seventh Meeting of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Transportation Working Group in Beijing, China, from 26 to 28 April, 1995. The meeting was preceded by a day long seminar on Upgrading of Transport Efficiency. This was followed by a two day plenary session, the proceedings of which are set out below. The meeting concluded with an excursion to the Chinese Aviation Museum and other sites. 2. Over 110 participants from 18 member economies (Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, the Peoples Republic of China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, the Republic of the Philippines, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand and the United States of America) and a representative from the APEC Secretariat attended the meeting. A number of representatives from the business sector were also present as part of their economys delegation. (A complete list of participants appears as Document TPT/WG7/INF.1/Rev.l) 3. The meeting was chaired by China represented by Ms. Tang Wensheng, Directorgeneral, Department for Cooperation with Foreign Countries of the Ministry of Railways. II. WELCOMING REMARKS 4. Opening remarks were made by China as host economy. 5. Ms. Tang, on behalf of the Ministry of Railways, the Ministry of Communications and the General Administration of Civil Aviation welcomed all participants to Beijing. She was happy to note that with Brunei Darussalam, Chile and Papua New Guinea participating in a working group meeting for the first time, the group was now in full attendance.
