University Postgraduate Fellowships (2013-14) University Postgraduate Fellowships are awarded to highly selected new full-time PhD students who have excellent academic records. To raise the University’s research profile in order to benchmark against the top universities in the world, it is important for the University to expand the size of its research postgraduate population. This Postgraduate Fellowships scheme serves the purpose of attracting high-calibre applicants from around the world for admission to our various PhD programmes. The scheme was first introduced in 2007 and, to date, 249 outstanding students have been awarded fellowships. The University Postgraduate Fellowships Scheme is generously supported by The University of Hong Kong Foundation for Educational Development and Research (“HKU Foundation”), the Jessie George Ho Charitable Foundation, Dr Lee Shau Kee and Philip K H Wong Foundation.
