Accordingly, there is a heated debate on whether having an aged population is a favorable trend. As for me, I do believe that in the long run, the negative effects will be far more than the positive ones. 1. 给政府造成养老负担 Although few of the pensioners will continue to yield direct profits for the society, the government has to earmark a sum of public funds for the pension plan. As a consequence, the increase of an aged population is accompanied with more pressures on the government’s fiscal budget, reducing the spending on other social programs, like unemployment benefits and student loans. 2. 给年轻人带来额外经济压力 Retired people also put an economic burden on the next generation. As social competition is becoming intense, how the younger generation can survive independently is again in the air.
