Data 2005-2006 academic year, 223,534 students, about 1% of enrolled U.S. students studied abroad; Only 9.8% of that 1%, which was 20,778, went to the Asian region; Less than 6,000 went to China. Benefits of Studying Abroad --having the goal of learning a language --no better way to improve language skills than by being immersed in a language --chance to travel, to expand one’s worldview… --for future employment --make international connections American Council on Education Established in 1918, the American Council on Education (ACE) is a U.S. organization comprising over 1,800 accredited, degree-granting colleges and universities and higher education-related associations, organizations, and corporations. The organization conducts public policy advocacy, research, and other initiatives related to key higher education issues, and plays a significant role in higher education leadership development. The Council developed and continues to administer the General Educational Development testing program. The GED test measures whether a person has the academic skills and knowledge expected of high school graduates in the U.S. or Canada, thus allowing adults who lack a high school diploma to certify that they possess the equivalent of a traditional high school education. The Councils ACE Fellows Program was established in 1965 to help prepare academicians, including vice presidents, deans, department chairs, and faculty, for senior leadership positions in American colleges and universit
