After the study of infinitives students should have some clear knowledge of infinitives and know how to use them to express them. 2.) Let students find out some important rules in the infinitives. Focal points: The features of infinitive, the different functions and types of infinitives. Difficult points: The different functions of infinitives, some special usage of infinitive, and how use infinitives to express Procedures and Time Allotment Stage1. Getting students ready for learning infinitives (3mins) Step1. Greetings Step2. Routine task Stage2. Revision (4mins) Ask students the question: What do you want to do when you grow up? And let students pay special attention to “to do”, then lead to the presentation of infinitives. Stage3. Presentation (12mins) Let students read the dialogue in the text book carefully and pay special attention to the “to fly” to activate their understanding of infinitives, then the teacher will give students a series of sentences of infinitives, then let them find out the rules. After the students give their answers, the teacher will make some comment on their answers and give them the correct definition of infinitives. During the following time the teacher will explain infinitives in detailed, such as the features of infinitives, the voice and tense of infinitives, and the grammatical functions of infinitives.
