SECURE INTERNETWORKING VIDEO SURVEILLANCE FOR DHS PROTECTION MISSION* ABSTRACT Video surveillance is an important component for homeland protection mission. Currently the video surveillance industry is rapidly adopting the advanced digital and networking technologies. Leveraging the readily available Internet infrastructures makes the video surveillance deployment for homeland protection mission much easier and more cost-efficient than traditional hardwired closed-circuit television systems. Infinova company (), one of the 500 fastest-growing private companies in USA, has been pioneering this new trend and developed the first and unique Ethernet-based hybrid video surveillance system. There are potential security threats to IP-based video surveillance systems. Security is a must in order to make the IP-based video surveillance systems practical and usable for homeland protection mission. The project will address the security requirements, and develop the first industrial secure IP-based video surveillance systems and products for homeland protection mission. The resulting cutting-edge systems and products will directly enhance and facilitate primary homeland security mission and improve the cost-efficiency of the mission. We plan to develop a local pilot testbed for evaluation.
