Unit 2 Chapter 10 Museum Pet Teaching Objectives Students will be able to: 1. guess the meaning of each new word by considering two sentences in different contexts; 2. identify each word’s meaning in a matching test ; 3. reinforce the understanding of a word by applying it three times; 4. be familiar with the cultural information on museum pet. Time Allotment Period Teaching Contents 2 (1)teaching interactively the ten words in context(P56); (2) performing interactive activities based on the above ten words: matching the words with definitions(P57); sentence checking 1 2(P58-59); final check(P57). Teaching Procedure I. Interactive Activities(5 minutes) Have a dictation on the words the students learnt in the previous class with synonyms, antonyms as well as Chinese; II. Interactive Word Study in Context (25 minutes) Aim: applying the theory of lexicology in class; give the students very clear clues of certain words and their meanings; teach the students how to learn English vocabulary and train them skills of how to memorize the new words. Teaching Steps: (1) perform the activities interactively based on guessing the meaning of the 10 words in context, try to make class lively; (2) apply the theory of lexicology to sense relations in the ten words, T may explain and enlarge something important. 1. acute: -adj. a.
