A Study of Critical Realism in Charles Dickenss Novels Abstract: Charles Dickens, the author of 15 novels as well as volumes of stories, travel books, and sketches and essays, was the greatest representative of English critical realism. He is particularly famous for his vivid comic characterizations and his forceful social criticism. His works are among the great classics in all fictions. It is his serious intention to expose and criticize in his works all the poverty, injustice, hypocrisy and corruptness he saw all around him. In his works, Dickens sets a large-scale criticism of the 19th-century England, particularly London. This thesis is to focus on the critical realism in Charles Dickenss novels. It mainly divided into three parts: the brief introduction of Charles Dickens and critical realism, the critical realism in Charles Dickenss works and some comments on Charles Dickens.
