台閩地區戶口住宅普查資料之大學校院學生來源分析 An Analyses of the Student Sources of Universities Based on Taiwan Census Data 林志重* 何猷賓** 林彥伶*** Chih-Chung Lin Yo-Bin Ho Yen-Ling Lin Abstract The higher education expanded fast in Taiwan. Issue of distribution of enrolled students has been paid much attention and was studied, but most of them got limited results due to the difficulty of collecting same-period student source data of each university. This research drew on Taiwan population census data of year 2000 to analysis the distributions of enrolled university students who satisfied the conditions. The results showed the numbers of students had little difference, 2.4 %, between census data and the Ministry of Education. The amount and the distribution of the boarders’ villages and those of the universities matched quite well. However, there were also something unreasonable discovered. The number of destination towns where students attended schools according to the census data was 308, far more than the actual number by 69. About 56% students chose to attend schools in their home townships. About 77% boarders lived in the same dormitories since five years ago. The reason why these significant differences occur might be related to interviewees’ different cognitions toward educational level, the misunderstanding at destination of school attended, and the census survey methods. It is suggested to distinguish and define the levels of education clearly in the census survey of the year 2010. Items have to be explained clearly. Students should be asked to fill in the questionnaires carefully. A mechanism of double check system should be built up to prevent all the potential mistakes discovered in this study.
