CHAPTER VIII ARTICLE I ADMISSIONS, GUIDANCE, AND RECORDS ADMISSIONS 8100. ADMISSION TO A COMMUNITY COLLEGE. The Board of Trustees shall admit any person possessing a high school diploma or its equivalent to any college in the Los Angeles Community College District. The President of any Los Angeles college or his/her representative may provide that any person who is 18 years of age or older or any apprentice* shall be admitted to the college if in the judgment of the President or his/her representative the person is capable of profiting from the instruction offered. All persons admitted who are 18 years and older without a high school diploma or its equivalent are admitted as provisional students. All such provisional students will be admitted with a probationary status and are subject to dismissal under the terms of Board Rule 8202 (Standards for Dismissal). *Section 3077 of Chapter 4 of Division 3 of the Labor Code of the State of California: The term apprentice as used in this chapter means a person at least 16 years of age who has entered into a written agreement with an employer or his/her agent, an association of employers, or an organization of employees, or a joint committee representing both. The term of apprenticeship for each apprenticeable occupation shall be approved by the administrator (Director of the State Department of Industrial Relations), and in no case shall provide for less than 2,000 hours of reasonable continuous employment for training through employment and through education in related and supplemental subjects.
